Level 2 RSPH Healthier Food and Special Diets

This qualification is aimed at those involved in catering, food and health-related occupations, and also to carers, community workers, fitness trainers and other individuals that have a role in the promotion of health. It would also be appropriate as part of lifestyle education for people of all ages, and especially for young people.
Holders of this qualification will have a good understanding of the basic principles of nutrition which underpin the production of healthy food and preparation of special diets, and the key role of nutrition in health.
This short course is delivered over one day, and assessed by a 30 minute examination, consisting of twenty multiple choice questions.

Open Course Level 3 Award in Nutrition for Healthier Food and Special Diets

This is a Level 3 qualification. It is suitable for people working in catering and others who are in a position to promote healthy nutrition. It is relevant for employees of
health related companies, and for people working in the health, caring or teaching professions that might have a role in the promotion of healthy eating or the preparation of meals,
menus and diets. The qualification's learning outcomes include the importance of balanced diets, the nutrient composition of food, nutritional needs of individuals and the
preparation, presentation and promotion of healthy meals and diets.
Training is assessed by a two hour examination, consisting of forty
multiple choice questions.

The Royal Society for Public Health Fundamentals of Food Hygiene qualification is designed for anybody who handles food, including the general public, and is particularly suitable for those working in kitchens or undertaking frontline duties in preparing, processing or retailing food. The emphasis of this qualification is placed on the correct handling of "high risk" foods and the importance of temperature control, cleaning and personal hygiene. It provides the basic knowledge for candidates to be safe food handlers and to be able to play an effective role in a food business operator’s food safety management system. Holders of this qualification will be able to describe the importance of food hygiene, outline the nature of food hazards and describe and comply to good hygiene controls. This short programme is usually delivered over one day, and assessment is by a multiple-choice examination of 40 minutes consisting of 30 questions.
